Configuration options

Every option that can be set in the MVSHARP.CONFIG record, in one place.

Where the options are set

MVsharp options are set in the MVSHARP.CONFIG record in the VOC file of the account. MVSHARP.CONFIG is a record (item) in the VOC, not a separate file. Each configuration option is specified as a separate attribute of the record.

For example, an account with the VSCODEDEBUG option set looks like this:

Emulation

MVsharp can emulate various 'Pick' flavours.

Option Description
INFORMATION.MODE When specified, the runtime environment emulates a PRIME INFORMATION mode.
PICK.MODE When specified, the runtime environment emulates a PICK mode.
D3.MODE The compiler emulates the D3 compiler, including case insensitivity etc.
PICK.TCL Emulates the D3 TCL environment with a ':' prompt and '>' for an active select list. D3 update processor commands also work at the TCL prompt.
UNIDATAEXEC The BASIC EXECUTE command behaves like Unidata, including the ability to execute OS commands with "!" at the prompt.

Data and queries

Option Description
ENCODING={Encoding} Specifies the encoding used for strings in your BASIC programs.
DATE.EUROPE When specified, the date is displayed in European format: dd/MM/yyyy.
COLLATION={collation} Sets the SQL Server collation to be used when creating new files and when processing queries.
COUNT.SUP When specified, all SELECT statements are executed as asynchronous SQL queries. Records can be processed while the query is being executed. Note that @SELECTED is not updated.

Debugging and logging

Option Description
VSCODEDEBUG When specified, the debugger will attempt to connect to the MVsharp Debugger extension in Visual Studio Code. See MVsharp Debugger extension.
SHOW.TRACE When specified, the stack trace is displayed as programs are executed. This is useful for debugging batch processes but has no value in interactive processes.
LOGTCL Every command executed from the command line is logged in the &LOGS& file.
LOGEXECUTE Logs the executes from all processes on the system, with the date, time, port number, user and statement. See Indexing to improve SELECT performance.
